Well I had to do the experiment over again after the first attempt didn't work. For the failed attempt we used sharpies and brown filter paper, i'm not sure why it didn't work. For the second attempt i used regular felt tip markers and paper towels this work much better. When it did work it was really cool, you could see what colors made up other colors like for example when you put green in the colors that came out where blue and a little bit of yellow. My favorite color that I examined was black, It had blue and a little bit of purple and if theirs purple there must be some red, Also I liked the black the most because it looked the coolest.
This experiment was showing the separation mixtures of substances into their components. This is called chromatography, "Chromatography is a method used by scientists for separating organic and inorganic compounds so that they can be analyzed and studied. By analyzing a compound, a scientist can figure out what makes up that compound. Chromatography is a great physical method for observing mixtures and solvents."
